Picking up boxes at Walmart has been an adventure

Picking up boxes at Walmart has been an adventure

Due to the upcoming move, I need boxes.  I have purchased some and got some free ones from others. I really need some big ones like TP, paper towels or diapers, come in.  I thought it would be so easy to call a store and ask for boxes. Oh my, I was so wrong. Here is how this adventure has gone:

Walmart #1 --- I  called the Walmart closest to my home. I was told they would hold some for me, but I would have to be there right at 7 a.m. the next morning or they would toss them in the trash. I went to the Walmart and picked up my boxes. They were an okay size, but not exactly what I was looking for. I was grateful to get them and was able to use them. The guy that I had talked to was a bit rude, when I asked for boxes, so I thought I would try a different Walmart.

Walmart #2  ----   I called the Walmart up north and the female manager told me that I would have to be there in 15 minutes or they would all be thrown away. The only way I could get there in 15 minutes was if I grew wings and flapped really fast.  Well, with that option out, I almost gave up.

Walmart #3 ---- I had to stop at Walmart to purchase a couple of things that I didn't get on my online order.  I hate going to the store, but what is a gal supposed to do? I had to go to the bank too, so I decided to stop at the Walmart out south. I placed a couple of boxes in my cart to purchase.  A friend found an abandoned box. Warning this is a dangerous thing if you are moving.  We found a store clerk and asked about the abandoned box. She told us it was headed to the trash, so we could have it. I pushed my cart and my friend drug the empty big box through the store. Yes, we looked ridiculous in the store, but even more after we got outside because it was so windy. The wind blew the boxes and the carts. We were chasing boxes and carts through the parking lot. Luckily, we caught all of them.

After I got home, I decided to call the South Walmart (Walmart #3) to see if I could get some free boxes. I was told to come in at 7 a.m the next morning. or they would toss them out. So, I got up and was promptly there at 7 a.m.m, but no one knew anything about any boxes and there weren't any. The manager apologized and told me to come back at noon. So I returned at noon. Once again no boxes and no one knew anything about it. The customer service guy went to the grocery department and brought me back six tiny boxes. These were not usable to me. I didn't want to look like a jerk, so I took the boxes and dropped them in the recycling bin.

Next, I called Walmart #2 and asked if they had some boxes I could pick up. I was told they had finished unloading their truck, they never hold any boxes, and they crush them up as they empty them.

Finally, I called Walmart #1 and requested to pick up some boxes.  I was told that they don't save any boxes for anyone because they sell boxes. I was told I could come into the store and purchase boxes. I explained I had done that but they were too small and the man didn't seem to care.

I called a local grocery store chain here and was told they cannot save any boxes because of Covid-19.

I have reached out to Target and I am hoping I will be successful tomorrow when I attempt to pick up boxes.

My friend who manages a grocery store two hours away was super helpful, he told me he would give me all of the boxes I need, but I would have to come after them. Yeah, I am not that desperate to do that.

Moral to this saga.... don't try to get boxes from Walmart.
