Weekly Review for 8.14.2020
The news this week revolved around football and more football with a little bit of Ben Madsen thrown in.
Football ended on a note of no football for BIG10 for the Fall. What I have learned has surprised me, local high school is being allowed to play, but the college cannot. The college has more moolah than local level to do testing and put safety precautions in place.
My thoughts on playing football at any level:
Football is a nonessential activity. It is up to each individual player and their parents to make that decision. If a school decides to move forward with the schedule and the player chooses not to play, he shouldn't lose his scholarship. If you want to gather with 90,000 other fans and not social distance and not wear a mask, then that is your choice. I don't want you to come near me if you live recklessly. I will continue to protect myself by limiting my contact with people and wearing a mask.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Ben Madsen saga. Here is the link....
Here is what I wrote when the police forced it closed.
Madsen's is a nonessential business. The owners and patrons should be able to choose whether or not they want to abide by the CDC guidelines. If you are not comfortable with how Madsen's is handing the Mayor's DHM, then don't go into the business. Using limited police resources to enforce a DHM at a nonessential business is irresponsible.
Adventures for the week..
Due to Covid, things are still not too exciting. Living in a virus hot zone, makes it difficult to get out and to things, if you want to social distance. I am doing the best I can and taking care of my fur baby.
I spent a lot of time on my computer in virtual meetings. What do I mean by a lot of time? I think it added up to about 10 hours this week. I get to do even more next week. Why so many meetings? So many things to iron out before heading back into the classroom. I understand why I had to do this, but it seemed a little silly. I had to watch a video about handwashing and mask wearing and take a little quiz. Basically, it was done to prove I watched the video.
I made my first ever trip to Costco. Really? Yep. Why did I wait so long? I didn't have a membership, nor do I think I needed one. I was given a membership, so I checked it out, I picked up a few things and saved some money, so I am a very happy lady.
My fur baby got a haircut this week. The fur on her face is a little lopsided because she didn't want to sit still. The rest of her is looking pretty good.
Picked up lunch from a taco place that sells tacos with French fries. Yes, French fries. It was a strange combo, but the food was okay.
I picked up online orders from Walmart, Lowes, Kohl's. I am not happy with Kohl's with the cabinet disaster, but I wasn't going to let my Kohl's cash go to waste. I got a new pair of jammies and some socks for around $10. Update on the Kohl's cabinet that likes to make the rounds around the US. Here is the latest:
The cabinet arrived at Kohl's warehouse in TN. Kohl's refused it, so it was put back on a truck for its original shipping address (a state I no longer live in). It arrived there and was dropped off. I contacted FedEx to let them know that it left at an old address. They said they would send someone back to pick it up. Looks like it was picked up, but it is still in limbo in TN. According to the FedEx website it arrived in TN on the 12th and is still pending delivery. Good news I did get a refund from Kohl's, so where the cabinet ends up is none of my concern.
A few online orders were delivered this week..
School supplies arrived.... masks, pens, and folders. Who would have ever thought masks would be on a supply list for school?
The cabinet ordered from Bed, Bath, and Beyond arrived and I got it put together without any help.
I received a partial order from Hallmark. The birthday card I need for next week has shipped. I hope it ships soon, like today because the person's birthday is Friday. I could save myself a lot of time, if I would just go inside of Hallmark, but then I would be stressed out about getting covid.
Next week adventures....
I am getting a haircut and I need one. I haven't had one in mid June, so it is time.
Planning to get take out from Mimi's. I was so excited when I found one here because I haven't been one in years.
I have another online meeting this week. It is only scheduled for an hour and half.
Anything stupid or funny that I have done this week?
Not that I can think of. Still nothing tops me asking a blind man to write something down.
Funny thing I heard this week..
Lizz on KZKX called a guy an asshole when he was being one. It was a DateEmOrDumpEm episode. He totally deserved it. I was a little surprise she called him out, but she was right.
