Update 10.13.2021
I
haven’t updated this in a long time. Why? I haven’t had a lot of free time to
write. I am also scared to share my true thoughts because I fear retaliation.
This week, I watched the fall of Gruden because of
some emails he wrote over 10 years ago. What he said was wrong and stepping
down was the right thing to do, I will not dispute that. I wonder what will
happen to those who exposed the emails. I recently received a social media
message that was directed at me that is filled with insults. I reported it and
I was retaliated against for reporting. The person went unpunished. Now the
writer of the hateful message has joined another group that I am apart of. I am
concerned that the same scenario could play out again. I sought out advice and
was told that if you report what someone else says or does to you, you can be
seen as retaliating against that person and be punished. So, when can you
report that someone is harming you or threatening you and not be punished? Why
do we punish victims and not perpetrators?
