Ex- Uncle's New Wife

Is it a bad thing that I would like to hang out with my ex-uncle's new wife? She seems like a lot of fun. I don’t think I will because he doesn’t think highly of me, and the feeling is mutual. He is my ex-uncle because he and my aunt divorced. They both had affairs with other people. At the time, neither of them would work. Both were able to work, but they didn’t. So, our tax dollars supported them and their two kids.

Facebook Algorithms

I love how Facebook keeps saying these are people you may know. Yep, I know them, but I choose not to add them because I enjoy my peace. Something weird is also happening with FB. A person I do know and do like. I talked with her yesterday on the phone, came up as someone you may know. I tried to add her as a friend, and this is what I received.

A Misuse of Assistance: An Observation

Image
Living in a community means understanding and sometimes supporting one another through tough times. However, there are moments when the boundaries of this support are stretched, leading to frustration and questions about fairness. I want to share a story about a couple who live on housing assistance. They have six kids and, like many, may genuinely need help to make ends meet. Now, before you accuse me of being unkind, hear me out. While I understand and support the idea of providing help to those in need, what this particular family is doing seems beyond the pale. They frequently beg for clothes, beds, food, and money from various sources. This in itself might not be so troubling if it weren’t for their subsequent actions. After gathering these necessities through community support, they turn around and spend money on luxuries like installing a pool and going on vacations. This situation raises a critical question: Are they truly in need, or are they exploiting the generosity of ...

American Century Golf Tournament

They are super slow at updating the charities the winners were playing for.  I assume that Jason Kelce donated the $5K he won to the Eagles Foundation for Autism, but I don't know for sure because the website hasn't been updated. He won the longest shot over 3 days ago.  https://americancenturychampionship.com/events/korbel-events/ So, I looked this up on 1.10.25 and the information is still not available. I did find something interesting Jason Kelce earned the 87-spot ranking in the tournament. Hopefully you know the significance of this number.

How Do You Respond to Someone Who Has Apologized After 22 Years?

I was fresh out of college, having just earned my undergraduate degree, and had taken a job working professionally. I was so excited; finally, I had a big job, and I knew I would rock it. On my first day, my boss took me out to lunch, just me and her. I was flattered but wondered why the rest of the department didn’t come. It would have felt more welcoming if the entire department had been there. We were a small department; there were only four others, so I was confused about why they couldn’t come too. We didn’t go to a super fancy place; it was a bar. I didn’t go to bars then, and it’s still rare that I do. Anyway, from what I remember, the food was okay. During our lunch, she talked badly about the woman I replaced. This was a big red flag for me. I immediately knew that I did not like her character because if she could talk poorly about this person, who was still employed at the company, what was she going to say about me? A few months later, she began having trouble with anot...

LPD need to shut down this huge drug ring in Lincoln, NE

Today an article was published stating that the young man involved in a drug deal gone wrong will be released from prison early. I don't like it, but judge makes the decision not me.  In 2021, a group of young men met up to sell drugs. The deal went out south and a shooting occurred.  When the news hit, family members were out begging for money saying that the young had done nothing wrong. I remember hearing the news and saying I bet it's a drug deal. I also wondered if Juvi was involved. I actually hoped he was, so that for once and for all he would be sentenced to prison. Well, Juvi wasn't involved, and several families set up Go Fund Me Pages and begged for money. The community gave. Here is the link to one  Fundraiser by Brenda Mcguire : Jayden Prentice Fundraiser (gofundme.com) https://www.gofundme.com/f/jayden-prentice-fundraiser.  This one raised about $25K. I wonder what happened to the money because once these men were released from the hospital, they ...

Now I know why he was mean to me

A couple of weeks ago, I learned some interesting information. A former supervisor, who was not kind to me because, in his eyes, I was deemed a horrible woman for being a childless, unmarried woman. For some reason, he felt the need to constantly put me down because my views did not align with his. He believed all women were put on this planet to serve their husbands and bear their children. Anyway, I learned that this man has been living a lie. He is actually gay and only married with children because the church told him to. Years ago, I remember this man giving thousands of dollars to support Proposition 8 in California, which was a state constitutional amendment stating that heterosexual marriage is the only kind of real marriage. Now, he is admitting that he is attracted to men and is going to stay married because he believes he can pray the gay away. So, maybe he was mean to me because he has never been able to live as his authentic self.
