Reflections on Trump’s Conviction Without Punishment

Today, Donald Trump learned his fate—or rather, the lack of one. A convicted felon without a punishment, his case serves as a stark reminder of the disparities within our justice system.

What does this tell us? It tells us that in some cases, it’s not about what you do, but who you are. The scales of justice, which are supposed to balance equally, can sometimes tip depending on the power, privilege, or profile of the individual standing before them.

To say I am disgusted is an understatement. Accountability is the cornerstone of any functioning society, and when it falters, so too does public trust. This moment serves as yet another example of how justice can be elusive, especially for those shielded by wealth and influence.
