Day 3.. of traveling.... no toll boths again. Thankfully!!

We survived our night in the motel. I still prefer hotels to motels. If you want to call me a snob for that, feel free to do so. Anyway as I said in a previous post, the place was clean and the staff was doing the best they could. I simply don't feel safe in motels. Being in a motel made it easier to load the SUV in the morning. I was able to pull up right next to the door and load everything.
We headed out to get gasoline and found that the gas stations were only opened for pay at the pump. This is something I am not a fan of because my card was once skimmed in Omaha. Our next stop was McDonald's. Oh yes, we had a delicious breakfast of burritos at McDonald's.
As we headed down I-40 west it began to rain. It didn't last long. At our first stop, it was so nice to step out of the car without any humidity. However, the dog would prefer grass and humidity. She did go potty in the dirt, but she didn't like it. As we navigated the twists and turn in the mountains, I drove like a snail. Our next stop was for lunch.  We stopped at Arby's and the line was super long. A man went inside to get his food, came out, got upset with the long line of cars in the drive thru because he couldn't back up. A man in front of us decided he was going to back out of the drive thru only a slight problem, we were right behind him. After laying on the horn for what seemed like forever, he finally saw us and stopped. Thank goodness.
We continued down I-40. It was so scary. I am not a fan of driving in mountains and I got to do just that. We dropped down in elevation and then went up in elevation. We also twisted and turned through the mountains. The drops offs on the side of the mountain was quite a ways down. Mom says the views were pretty. I cannot comment because I was only looking at the road in front of me. Thankfully, traffic was light and the person in front of me also drove like a snail.  Once I was out the mountains it was only a few more hours until we stopped for the day. I was so relieved to be done.
