Money saving tips for week ending 8.14.2020

One thing to keep in mind, one place is not less expensive on all items.

I once had a friend share with me that they buy all of their cleaning supplies at the Dollar Store. I checked it out, but I found that the name brand products were more per ounce than Walmart. I also learned that by purchasing off brands, I was using more than I was with the name brand, which equaled more money spent.

Costco does have some items cheaper than Amazon, but be careful because not all are cheaper.  For example  Mr. Clean Magic Erasers are around $10 for a package of 11 at Costco, but you can purchase 9 of them on Amazon for $6.97.  Another thing to be aware of with Costco, you can have your orders delivered to your, but the items cost more. For example, Neutrogena Body Wash is around $16 in the store and $19 if delivered to your door. I am not saying never have things delivered.  I am working on an order for delivery because I only need a couple of items and don't want to go into Costco. If you want to get food delivered or take out, check the prices on the menu of both options. I was going to do an order for delivery, through a third party service.  The fee was only $3 and I was fine with that. When I got ready to place my order the total was around $20 for lunch. Shocked, I checked the menu prices against each other. I called the restaurant. They offered take out, so I placed my order over the phone.  My new total was $10.

I know the prices I pay for stuff.  I order the same products over and over, so I know my prices. If I go into a store and they have a sale, I know if it is a better deal there or what I normally pay.

If you have a Dyson Animal 3 listen up.

The recline feature suddenly stops working. About a year ago, I decided to splurge on a good vacuum because I was tired of replacing the vacuum every few years. Well, I vacuumed, shut it off and tried to use it the next day and wouldn’t recline. After trying some of the tips online, I gave up and called Dyson. After an hour wait, the guy told me that this model had a defect. So, if I send it back, they will send me a replacement. So, now I am waiting for a replacement. Why don't I share my political views on social media?

 I don't share my political views because it usually leads to disagreement amongst people and frankly, I don't feel like arguing with anyone. Also, I have to be careful about my conduct on a social media platform because of my job. I must protect my source of income and my future. I will always speak out against violence against women and violence prevention because those are my areas of research.
