Watching and Reading

I finally read a book that was not for an academic class. Recently, I read Cindy McCain's new book. If you haven't read it, you should. Yes, I am a republican, but one that doesn't always agree with every republican. The republicans who I like are John McCain III, Ben Sasse, and Liz Cheney because they stand up for what is right regardless of their party. I recently watch Promising Young Woman it was went done movie, but such as a sad story line. Another movie that I watched, Three Identical Strangers, really highlights the need for Institutional Review Boards (IRB). IRB can make it difficult for you to get research done, but it also helps protect research subjects. Tonight's movie of choice was, Our Friend. It is based on a true story about a woman with terminal Cancer. It shows us that we all need a friend like Dane.

Update on HOA nonsense

I know a few of my readers love to hear about the neighbor drama.  I don't live there any more, so what I share is based on what I am told. A woman took over where I left off with being an advocate against the HOA. The drug problems still exist. I really doubt anything will ever be done with it.   About a year ago, a woman went to the board and complained about the drug activity. She demanded to know what was going to be done to stop the drug ring. I was told she was criticized for complaining and forced to move out. Her home was sold in January of 2021.  The drug ring owns 3 homes, they sold 1 home to their friend. Is it fair to call them druggies? Well, I have police reports to prove they were either arrested for possession of drugs or drugs were found in the homes they own. Juvi is now a father. For those that don't recall, police were first called to his home in 2015 for the smell of marijuana I was out of town. I know who called because the neighbor who di...

Interesting way society says to respond to a bully

As a child, I grew up in a trailer park and attended schools in middle class neighborhoods. Many of the kids wouldn't have anything to do with me because of where I lived. One parent even said to me, "At least I live in a house." Yep, it was a sad time for me. One girl was really mean to me. In third grade, she grabbed my neck and banged my head against a brick wall. This happened while we waited for school to start. I took my lunchbox and hit her over the head till she quit. I got into trouble for hitting her. I told what she did to me, but they said she said she didn't do it. I didn't have a habit of going around hitting people in the head with my lunchbox, so I am not sure why I was punished and she wasn't. In sixth grade, my mother made me wear a pair of jeans to school with red hearts and a plain red sweatshirt because it was Husker red day. The bully made fun of me because the jeans came from K-Mart. Her mother had come to school to have lunch with her....

A couple of things to watch on Mormonism

This is a great post from a former couple that left the Mormon church. Breaking Mormon: Couple escapes religious abuse, finds freedom - YouTube Here is another good one link to a woman who left the church. It is two years old, but it is full of good information. Chrissys Corner - YouTube

Rejection Sucks

For the past two years, I have dreamed about being an advocate for women experiencing dating violence. When I got sick in 2019, I had to put it off because I was too ill. Last year, I planned my move, so I was here in time for training to start. In 2020, training was cancelled because of the pandemic.  A couple of weeks ago, I had an interview for a volunteer advocate position.  Today, I was told that I was not good enough. I was told that they had better candidates with more experience. No one else will allow me to be an advocate because I don't have enough experience. I cannot get any experience. It is a vicious cycle.  I will finish my education, but my dream of running a domestic violence center for women is out of the question. Without getting experience, there really is not any hope.

One year anniversary of leaving my crappy job

A year ago, on May 19, 2020 I walked out and quit my job. Please scroll down to read the entry, if you don't recall what happened. What did I learn from this experience? The leadership was super phony. I was told by some that they really cared about me, but it was all a lie. I have not heard from any of them since I left. The leadership sided with the woman who discriminated against me.  How did she discriminate against me?  She punished me for going to the doctor and allowed a male employee to go to the doctor without any consequences. My bonus was decreased because of the punishment.  I also faced discrimination by an immigrant. I was told, "It's not my fault you are white." The employer was super focused on no discrimination against anyone's race and  an members of the LGBTQIA community, that they failed to recognize discrimination against white women.  I learned that I will NEVER work below my education level again. I was too damn smart for the job. I ...

NO mask = charges

Former Minden School Board member who refused to wear mask charged (1011now.com) I am curious why did she refuse to mask.  1) Did she refuse because the governor of Nebraska did not impose a mask mandate? Governor Ricketts said only he could require Nebraskans to wear masks and not any mayor of any city. 2) Did she have a medical problem that prevented her from wearing a mask? 3) Did she not believe the virus is real?  4) Was she vaccinated and did not think she needed one any longer? 5) Did she forget to her mask and no one would give her one? Before I pass judgement on this lady, I need to understand why she did what she did.
