Spotted a sign that looks like a former president

I spot this sign at educational institution, and it looks like a former president.

Juvi didn't show up for court on a shoplifting charge

I looked up the verdict on the one criminal mischief charge and shoplifting charge and found that he didn't show up for court.  What happens now? According to the court, a warrant could go out for his arrest, or it could be continued to another date. The other charges: third degree domestic violence and criminal mischief have been continued to August. I will keep you posted. I am really hoping for a prison sentence on the domestic violence charge. This is not his first time being charged with domestic violence.

Juvi heads back to court

I have verified this with the courts.   He is facing two counts of criminal mischief. One count of third-degree domestic violence. One count of shoplifting.   Maybe this time he will get jail time. I guess time will tell.   Oh, and over the weekend I heard that the police paid Juvi a visit to his home because of a domestic disturbance.   I have not verified this myself with the police.   So, I must go on what I was told.

Week ending 7.22.2023

The story this week is the heat. We have been in triple digits for well over a week. It is fine, the a/c keeps plugging along.   I am so lucky to have had a new a/c unit put in last year and this spring all new duct work. So, the a/c should get us through the heatwave. How are we dealing with this? Inside activities only! It’s too hot to walk outside in the morning because by 7:30 a.m. it is 97 degrees. Getting up early to do laundry. This morning I was up by 6 a.m., so I could do two loads of laundry before the heat set in. Planning meals that are cool.   If it requires using the oven, then it is out. Watching movies. Last night, I watched a PBS documentary on The Kennedy’s. It was interesting, I didn’t know that JFK had Addison’s Disease.   (learn more here Addison's disease: Symptoms, causes, diagnosis and treatments (msn.com) ) Other happenings… The only drama here is that I haven’t been paid since the beginning of June because someone in the payroll d...

My email made the news

Recently, I reached out to the local media here because I almost became the victim of a head on collision.   Drivers are missing the turn lane from a busy westbound street and turning right into the southbound lanes. The problem is there are not any signs about where to turn and not turn.   A little background on this matter. Law enforcement knows this is happening because one of their own witnessed my near head on collision. The officer is the reason I could not get over in the right lane and out of the wrong way driver’s way. The officer did absolutely nothing.   I was scared and ticked off. I did contact law enforcement about getting more patrols in the area, a sign, or maybe something done, but no one ever contacted me. So, I gave up and contacted the media.

Let’s talk about petroleum jelly!

Image
Today, I had to purchase some petroleum jelly because I was running out. A strange memory came back to me regarding this purchase.   During the second year of my undergraduate work, I briefly dated a guy who criticized me for using petroleum jelly. He saw it in my room and said I shouldn’t have it. I didn’t understand what the problem was, I had some dry patches of skin on my feet, and it had been recommended to me by a medical professional to use it on my feet. He explained to me that one should only use it on a bare baby’s butt.   He didn’t have any children and neither did I, so I don’t know why he felt like giving me parenting advice. Anyway, he told me to throw it out, I didn’t get rid of it, but I did get rid of him. The reason I got rid of him was because he thought he had the right to tell me what to do all of the time because he was a man, and I was a woman. One time when I was in his dorm room, he left for a short time to get his laundry out of the dryer. Wh...

Stronger penalties for suspended driving needed

More than likely as you read this there is a suspended driver cruising down a street near you.   This driver more than likely doesn’t have any automobile insurance. So, when they crash into you, you are the one dealing with the damage. If you have comprehensive insurance, you pay your deductible, and your insurance company will cover your expenses up to a certain dollar amount. If you only have liability, you are your own to collect from the at fault driver.   To cut down on the number of suspended drivers on Lincoln roads, we need stiffer penalties. Currently, there is not any incentive to keep them from driving. Recently, a Lincoln man was convicted of driving on a suspended license for the second time in less than six months. This is not an isolated incident.    Many others are being convicted multiple times for the same offense within a few months or less. The most recent case the man was fined $100, which he did not pay.    He went back to cou...

Crazy neighbors or HOA drama?

Another question I have received asks if I have any stories about the crazy HOA or crazy neighbors. Here is what I know about my previous HOA. They are still fighting. A fight broke out at the annual board meeting a couple of months ago and the police had to be called to break it up.   Remember the neighbor who would not respect my boundary of social distancing during covid? Well, she did get covid and was very sick, but did not require hospitalization. Even after this experience she continued to make fun of those who took the pandemic seriously. I do currently reside in a neighborhood with an HOA and neighbors that are close by, but I don’t have any outrageous stories to share. Sorry! No drama here, it is peaceful.   My neighbors are friendly. One is a retired police officer, so she keeps an eye on our street. She jokes she doesn’t miss much on her corner. The one next door neighbor travels a lot, she is retired, and I rarely see her. For the past several wee...

Update on Juvi

Since, I have resumed this blog. I have been asked about any udpates on Juvi. Okay for those of you who don’t remember Juvi, below is a short descrption. He became my neighbor in 2015. His mother purchased the property, moved him in with a young girl, while she continued to live in a neighboring town. At the time, he was 15 years old.   Yes, him and his girlfriend were playing house. His drug dealing brother, who was in his twenties, also moved into the neighborhood and purchased a couple of properties. In the end the family owned four properties and there were two drug busts during the time they were my neighbors. Juvi used marijuana frequently; the smell was unbearable. It was also believed he was selling drugs because lots of people were in and out of the home at all times of the day and night. Not one of the people stayed more than a couple of minutes. Sometimes, they would have a handshake in the front yard and then the seller would check his hand before handing t...

Why don't I share my political views on social media?

I don't share my political views because it usually leads to disagreement amongst people and frankly, I don't feel like arguing with anyone. Also, I have to be careful about my conduct on a social media platform because of my job. I must protect my source of income and my future. I will always speak out against violence against women and violence prevention because those are my areas of research.

Why and when this blog was started?

Someone asked me why I started this blog. It is nothing new. I started one around 2013 when my ex's family was harassing, stalking me, and I feared for my safety. I used that platform for a way to digital document was happening at the time.  In 2020, I made the decision to move it here.  The original blog is still there. I know because I just looked. It still has 70 followers. I made a post again that the blog has been moved. So, maybe some of the other followers will find there way here.  I will not be sharing the original blog link because it is very painful for me to relive. It was a very painful time for me and it is part of the reason why I choose to relocate.

Sibling fight.... glad it didn't include me

People often ask me if I am sad that I didn’t have any siblings. I don’t know anything different, so I am content with my life. Recently, when I heard of a dispute amongst siblings, I was glad I wasn’t involved. Disclaimer: I am changing names, to protect others’ privacy.   Tim and Bonnie have two sons, Jim and Jack. Both of their children are married and with children of their own. Jim lives about five and an half hours from Tim and Bonnie. Recently, Jim and his wife had another baby. So, they planned to travel to their parents’ home, which in the same state as of most of Jim relatives, so everyone could see their latest addition.   Tim and Bonnie wanted to make sure that both sides of their family could see the new baby, so they made separate plans with both. Bonnie’s sister offered to hold the event at her home and have food catered.   This was on a Saturday. The next day Bonnie had invited all of Tim’s family (19 people) over to their home for dinner, w...

Addressing questions from trip home

I have been debating for the last month how to address some things. So, I am going to do my best to do it. Why did you pick just a strange time to come home? I didn’t find it strange. I wanted to come after Memorial Day, before the CWS started, and before the humidity was super unbearable. The reason for working around Memorial Day and the CWS was simple, I didn’t want to pay super high hotel rates. I arrived on Tuesday and left on Saturday. Well, I chose the dates I did for a few reasons. I had to work around month-end close. Yes, I am a retired accountant, but I still have many friends who work in the field. So, I wanted to work around them. I left on Saturday because I wanted to be there on Friday to spend time with some people. More on that later.   Why didn’t you stop and spend time with me? Are you mad at me? I am not mad at anyone. You must understand that I have lived there my entire life so far, so I know a lot of people. I had to make some hard decisi...

The search for the missing comforter

On May 20th I dropped off a comforter at the cleaners to be cleaned. It was due back on the 3rd of June. I called on June 3rd to make sure it was ready because I didn't want to drive that far without it being done. It wasn't ready. So, I figured I would pick it up when I returned from vacation.  On June 17th when I went to pick it up, I was told that it was not ready again, it had been delayed. At this point, I was annoyed and knew I was being lied to. After several minutes of conversation, the Asia American lady finally admitted that they did not know the location of my comforter. I called when I returned home because I still had the matching shams.  I had forgotten to pick them up when I dropped off the comforter for cleaning. I offered to send them a picture of the missing shams to help them locate the comforter. The lady who addressed declined my offer and told me that my comforter was at another location. I called the other location and was told they never received it, bu...

Same story different people.. wonder how it will end

Image
I saw this post and wanted to reply with something snarky but choose not too. This seems like a sweet thing that someone would post about their husband. It would be super sweet, if he hadn't done the same thing previously. He did the same thing with his first wife, which ended in divorce when he cheated on her. How do I know? I know the first wife.  Another woman has been posting about how awful it is for a man to cheat on his wife and one should ever trust a man who previously cheated. The man she is now married to cheated on his first wife. How do I know? Well, he lived next door to my folks. One day the wife mysteriously moved out. He told my folks he had an affair. When the news broke one of the neighbors said that had been going on for at least six months. The neighbor worked for Burlington Northern, came home late one night, and saw the husband on the porch with a woman, who was not his wife.   It will be interesting to see how long these relationships last....

Long time no post

Gosh! I cannot believe it has been almost 10 months since I have posted anything. Life gets busy and then I don't keep up. Sorry! I know I was much better when this was on a different platform, but I was also working and not going to school. Doing both makes me a little busy!
